Albendazole (Eskazole) is a widely used medication among nursing mothers in many developing countries where parasitic infection is very common without any harm effect in the breastfed babies. One reason is that the drug is barely excreted into mother's milk. Studies have shown that less than 0,1% of the mother dose appears in the milk. Because gut absorption is less than 5% the actual amount getting into the baby's is even lower.
Albendazole is also globaly prescribed for children without harmful effects.
